What is Plié & Plush?
Plié & Plush transforms your beloved dance costumes into timeless keepsake throw pillows. We preserve the sparkle, sequins, and special details from your dancer’s favorite outfits, turning memories into beautifully handcrafted home décor.
How does the process work?
It’s simple!
✅ Place your order online.
✅ Ship us your costume.
✅ We thoughtfully design and sew your keepsake pillow.
✅ Your finished pillow is shipped back to you with care!
We’ll guide you through every step to make it easy and exciting.
What type of costumes can you use?
We primarily work with dance recital and competition costumes, but we also accept skating outfits, cheer uniforms, and select performance costumes. If you’re unsure, just reach out and we’ll be happy to advise!
How much does it cost?
Pricing varies based on how much of the costume is used and the level of detail or embellishment. Costumes with lots of rhinestones, fringe, or layered fabrics typically require more time and design work.
Most keepsake pillows range from$100 to $140, depending on the complexity.
- One-Sided Keepsake Pillow from $100
- Two-Sided Keepsake Pillow from $125
- Two-Costume Two-Sided Keepsake Pillow from $140
Full details are available on our [Pricing Page].
Why do Plié & Plush Pillows cost what they do?
Because they’re not just pillows.
They’re hand-stitched stories.
Every keepsake pillow I create is:
- ✂️ Custom-designed from your dancer’s actual costume
- 🧵 Sewn by hand, not mass-produced
- 🪡 Backed with high-end upholstery fabric so it lasts for years
- 📦 Shipped back to you at no extra cost
- 💝 Designed to preserve the sparkle, effort, and emotion stitched into every rhinestone, sequin, and ruffle
You’re not paying for “just a pillow.”
You’re investing in:
- A functional keepsake you can hold
- A memory preserved in fabric
- A story your dancer can pass down
Most Plié & Plush pillows fall between $100 and $140, depending on how detailed the costume is and how much design work is needed.
This is the kind of keepsake you’ll want to pass down—not tuck away in a bin.
How long does it take?
Our typical turnaround is approximately 2-3 weeks (depending on current volume) from when we receive your costume AND final payment. Rush orders may be available for an additional fee—perfect for birthdays or recitals!
Can I help customize my pillow design?
Absolutely!
In order to maintain the integrity of the design of the costume, all pillows come standard with high quality upholstery fabric for the backing material.
We will do our best to only choose fabric colors that complement the costume. You can also request certain colors for the backing.
If the costume has tulle, rhinestones, sequin, etc, we will include the best elements on the design of the pillow.
Will I get back any leftover costume materials?
Yes! I’ll send back any meaningful leftover fabric or accessories with your finished pillow, unless you tell me otherwise.
I always take a modest approach to the design—panty briefs or similar parts of the costume are never included in the final product.
What happens if my costume gets lost in shipping?
We recommend shipping your costume with tracking and insurance. Once received, your costume is handled with extreme care.
Unfortunately, we cannot be responsible for lost packages en route to us, but we’re happy to assist with shipping tips!
Can I send in multiple costumes for one pillow?
Absolutely! We offer a Two-Costume Pillow option where you can have two different costumes sewn onto either side of the pillow—perfect for combining styles like jazz and lyrical or honoring two favorite recitals.
Each side of the pillow will have a different fabric base that complements each costume
This way, each side of your pillow tells a unique part of your dancer’s journey.
Which costume details get used on the pillow?
Most designs will almost always include:
- The front part of the top
- The front part of the skirt
If you purchase a two-sided pillow we will also include:
- any back-straps of the top
- The back part of the skirt
If you have a hip hop costume (example: track suit) we will cut up and use the whole costume as the backing.
I always take a modest approach to the design—panty briefs or similar parts of the costume are never included in the final product. This includes embellished boy shorts as well.
Where do I ship my costume and how do I package it for shipping?

What is the type and size of the pillow inserts?
All of the pillow inserts are made from 100% hypoallergenic polyester fiber; odorless and washable, and firm yet fluffy.
The standard pillow size is 18x18. Measurements are seam to seam
Do you incorporate elements like rhinestones, beading, and tulle?
Yes! That's the fun part. We will incorporate as much as the "fun stuff" on the costume as much as possible. Tulle is my favorite element to add. More tulle!!
If the beading and rhinestones are more elaborate and incorporate more than 50% of the costume, then choose the "Heavily Beaded & Fringe" option.
This option is included on each of the products because heavily beaded or fringed costumes require more hand sewn work to preserve every intricate sparkle and texture.
Will you use both sides of the costume or just certain pieces?
The costume that you send in will be cut up. How it is cut up depends on your costume and the product you choose.
For example:
For a One-Sided Keepsake Pillow we will use the front part of the top and a skirt.
We will only use both sides of a costume if you select a Two-Sided Keepsake Pillow.
If you send in a unitard AND you purchased a One-Sided Keepsake Pillow, we will aim to use the top half of the unitard.
If you send in a unitard AND you purchased a Two-Sided Keepsake Pillow, we will cut up the leg pieces of the unitard and use that as backing material for the back half of the pillow.
If you send in a leotard AND you purchased a One-Sided Keepsake Pillow, we will aim to use only the top half of the leotard.
There are exceptions to every rule, but this is the starting point by which we begin every design.
Also, I always take a modest approach to the design—panty briefs or similar parts of the costume are never included in the final product. This includes embellished boy shorts as well.
How do you ensure the durability of the pillow, especially with delicate costume materials?
We take extra steps to make sure your keepsake pillow is both beautiful and built to last. We back delicate costume fabrics with high-quality, durable upholstery materials to add structure and stability.
All fabric edges are professionally treated to prevent fraying, and the seams are reinforced and carefully inspected for strength. While some small embellishments like rhinestones or sequins may loosen naturally over time, the overall construction of the pillow is designed to be sturdy enough for regular display and light use.
Do more elaborate costumes cost more?
Yes. Elaborate costumes often feature rhinestones, beading, fringe, or specialty fabrics that require extra care. Be sure to choose the "Heavily Beaded & Fringe" option.
To preserve the unique details of your costume, much of the sewing is done by hand—which is more time-consuming than machine sewing.
This ensures your keepsake pillow captures all the special touches that made the costume stand out.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit card and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.
We also accept Apple Pay and Google Pay for your convenience.
Do you offer payment plans or deposits?
At this time, we do not offer payment plans. Final payment is due in full before we begin production on your keepsake pillow.
We do require a %30 initial deposit to secure your order. This deposit covers essential startup materials like backing fabric, zippers, and thread. The remaining balance will be invoiced after we receive your costume and confirm the design with you.
We will not begin work on your pillow until the final payment is paid in full.
Can I change or cancel my order after sending in my costume?
Please see Payment and Cancellation Policy
What is your refund policy?
We do not offer refunds. When you send in your costume for a keepsake pillow, you do so with the understanding that the costume will be permanently altered.
While we take great care to thoughtfully preserve the special details and overall integrity of your costume, it cannot be returned to its original condition.
For this reason, we encourage you to carefully consider your decision before sending in your costume.
For more information please see our Payment & Cancellation Policy
Do you offer repairs or touch-ups if something happens to my pillow later?
No, we do not offer repairs or touch-ups after delivery. Each pillow is carefully constructed using high-quality upholstery fabric, with all fabric edges treated to prevent fraying.
We thoroughly reinforce and inspect every seam to ensure lasting durability.
Please note, due to the delicate nature of dance costume materials, small embellishments like rhinestones, beads, or sequins may naturally loosen or pop off over time with regular use.
This is normal with decorative fabrics and not considered a flaw in craftsmanship.
Will the costume be cut up?
Yes. How it is cut up depends on your costume and the keepsake pillow you choose.
Will you hand wash the costume before you cut it up?
No, we do not wash costumes before creating your pillow.
We kindly ask that you ensure your costume is clean and odor-free before sending it in.
We recommend a gentle hand wash and air dry prior to shipping.
If a costume arrives with noticeable odors, we will respectfully return it to you and issue a refund of your deposit.
This helps us maintain a clean workspace and deliver the highest quality product.
